All Sorts of Technology and Local Democracy part two
A tea-time discussion (with sandwiches)
5.30pm to 7pm, 24th November
Cafe Ollo, The Media Centre
Huddersfield Social Social
A social event (with drinking)
7.15pm onwards, 24th November
Starts in the Head of Steam pub
The first All Sorts of Technology and Democracy event at the Media Centre brought together a group of people with a wide range of interests, including members of charities and community projects, council officers and people who work with digital media, for a very open minded and engaged discussion.
After such an enjoyable hour and a half it seemed a good idea to organise another one, and the Media Centre have very kindly offered to host it again, on Wednesday 24th of November from 5.30pm to 7pm in Cafe Ollo, with drinks and sandwiches.
The aim of the event is to bring together anyone who might care about technology or local democracy in any way, whether that is robots and home made rockets or tenants and resident associations and local history societies. We want to give people a chance to talk about what they care about, learn new ways of looking at things, and maybe come up with new ways to get things done for themselves in their neighbourhoods.
The event will follow a similar structure to the last one, with some short presentations to share knowledge, with discussion as and when people want to comment. But some time will be put by to design a simple, open structure for future events that will allow as many people as possible to be involved.
If you would like to give a short presentation – say 10 minutes – at the event on 24th November, please email Andrew Wilson andrew@blinkmedia.org
All Sorts of Technology and Local Democracy Part 2 is organised by Huddersfield Social, and supported by The Media Centre as part of the “Knowledge Sandwich” series.
The evening will continue with the Huddersfield Social Social, an informal get together for anyone with an interest in socially valuable uses of tools such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Blogs and other similar sites and services. The Huddersfield Social Social begins in the Head of Steam pub at 7.15pm.
Everyone is very welcome to both events.
